PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION AND FUNCTIONS
The PROTON controller is the latest model and successor to one of the most reliable controllers on the market - the YETI controller. The microprocessor PROTON controller is designed to control the operation of the blower and circulation pump in central heating installations, and has an output for connecting remote control.
Main functions of the PROTON controller:
Smooth blower speed regulation - NEW ALGORITHM
The PROTON controller allows setting maximum and minimum blower speeds, enabling precise adjustment of the blower power.
Gradual blower activation from minimum to maximum speeds extends motor life and prevents sudden ignition of gases accumulated in the boiler (so-called popping). Competing controllers have only one parameter responsible for blower power – the PROTON controller allows setting both minimum and maximum speeds.
Fuel control
This function reduces blower speed to minimum when the controller detects a temperature drop despite the blower being on. Reducing blower speed does not excessively cool the central heating boiler. This function activates after 30 minutes if the set temperature has been reached, or after 2 hours if the set temperature has not been reached (ignition mode – 2 hours).
Anti-freeze function
Below 5°C the controller turns on the circulation pump, which delays freezing of some central heating installation components (the most vulnerable ones).
Anti-stop function
After the heating season, the circulation pump is turned on for 1 minute every 14 days - this prevents the pump from seizing during the summer - the function works when the controller is on.
Automatic setting retention
The controller automatically saves settings during power loss and resumes previous operation when power returns.
Factory reset
The controller can be reset to factory settings. This function is useful if the controller is misadjusted by inexperienced operators.
User-programmable parameters
Blow time, pause time between blows, maximum and minimum blower speeds, circulation pump activation temperature, controller shutdown temperature.
Installer-programmable parameters
Besides the configuration mode available to all users, the PROTON controller has a special mode allowing setting of service parameters (additional service manual).
The service mode allows programming of:
blower characteristics – thanks to this parameter our controller can work with any blower available on the market (up to a specified max power)
blower power during blowing – you decide the blower power during blowing
blower speed reduction range – how many degrees before the set temperature the blower speed should be reduced
minimum boiler temperature
REMOTE CONTROL OPTION
The PROTON controller can be connected to a remote control panel or room thermostat. Connecting a remote panel allows the controller to operate in two modes: room and boiler. Connecting a standard room thermostat allows maintaining the set room temperature. Thanks to remote control, we can maintain a constant room temperature, saving up to 30% on fuel.
