WARNING! Do not install the cold deflector immediately after receiving the shipment. It is recommended to place the deflector on the flue pipe so that it gradually reaches the temperature inside the boiler. Incorrect installation may cause faster wear, cracks, or even breakage of the deflector right after ignition, which is not covered by warranty.

Deflector for a boiler with a screw feeder, also called a radiator or fire breaker. For feeders from 50 to 75 kW. Made of the highest quality cast iron. It has standard dimensions, making it suitable for most feeders within this power range. It can also be used in feeders of other power ratings, provided that the feeder manufacturer recommends using a radiator of this diameter. The deflector comes without a mounting bracket. It has a hole with an internal M12 thread. This allows adjusting the appropriate height at which the deflector will hang above the firebox as needed. The recommended height for placing the deflector above the firebox is about 15 cm. Due to the heavy weight of this element, shipping is via courier.

The coal combustion process does not end in the firebox. Combustion products always containing some amounts of combustible substances (gases and tar vapors as well as soot) escape from the retort firebox and should burn out in the combustion chamber above the burner. Four factors are essential for combustion: the presence of air (oxygen), good mixing of combustible substances with air, sufficient contact time between combustible substances and air, and a temperature higher than the ignition temperature of the combustible substances. If incompletely burned combustion products from the firebox prematurely reach cold water surfaces at temperatures not exceeding 150°C (water jacket walls or emergency water grate) – combustion is interrupted, and unburned flue gases enter the heat exchanger, resulting in condensation of tar on cooling surfaces. Dust and soot easily settle on the tar, which, combined with polymerized tar over time, form hard-to-remove deposits with strong insulating properties.

The deflector installed in the boiler above the burner is designed to mix flue gases and air and maintain a high temperature in the combustion environment. It is usually a very flat cast iron or ceramic cylinder, with a diameter of 200-300mm and a height of 10-15mm (cast iron) or 30-50mm (ceramic), mounted at a height of 100-150mm above the upper edge of the burner. Numerous studies have conclusively proven that its presence is essential for flue gas cleanliness and heat exchanger efficiency.
