The STB sensor is an electronic device powered electrically, which operates by opening contacts when the limit temperature is reached. Reclosing is not possible automatically even after the heat level decreases. The reset must be performed by an operator. This is usually done via a special button, but in some industrial devices, partial disassembly of the housing is required to reset.

There are also pressure STB temperature limiters that do not require external power supply. They are equipped with an additional valve, which is closed by an auxiliary spring if the capillary is damaged and fluid leaks, or if the limit temperature is exceeded. These types of regulators provide additional protection for heating devices in case of standard thermostat failure.
