The task of the draft regulator or draft limiter is to reduce excessive negative pressure in chimney ducts, which is related to an inappropriate cross-section of the chimney duct or variable atmospheric factors, e.g., strong wind.

Principle of operation

The Kominus draft regulator is mounted on the stove's flue pipe with the chimney, above or below the flue pipe. If the draft in the chimney is too strong, the pendulum flap opens and air flows from the boiler room to the chimney. The negative pressure in the boiler remains constant, thus achieving optimal combustion. The knob on the regulator is used to adjust the negative pressure at which the flap opens. Adjustment is made by changing the position of the weight placed under the knob, thereby shifting the center of gravity of the element so that the flap opens at the set negative pressure.
