Deflector dedicated to burners with a power of up to 75KW for a furnace with a screw feeder, also for 5th Class and EcoDesign boilers. It has standard dimensions, making it suitable for most boilers with feeders. The selection criterion for the deflector is its outer diameter. The ceramic deflector is used in most types of coal boilers with an automatic fuel feeder and a retort combustion chamber. It has two suspension points integrated with the deflector that allow it to be hung in any way depending on the construction of the boiler and combustion chamber. The deflector can be hung on a hook or chain. It can be used for other types of boilers equipped with trough feeders and others depending on installation possibilities.

The coal combustion process does not end in the combustion chamber. Combustion products always containing certain amounts of combustible substances (gases and tar vapors as well as soot) escape from the retort combustion chamber, which should burn out in the combustion chamber above the burner. Four factors are essential for combustion: the presence of air (oxygen), good mixing of combustible substances with air, sufficient contact time of combustible substances with air, and a temperature higher than the ignition temperature of the combustible substances. If incompletely burned combustion products from the combustion chamber prematurely reach cold water surfaces with a temperature not exceeding 150°C (water jacket walls or emergency water grate) – combustion is interrupted and unburned flue gases enter the heat exchanger, resulting in condensation of tar on cooling surfaces. Dust and soot easily settle on the tar, which, together with polymerized tar over time, form deposits that are difficult to remove and have strongly insulating properties.

The deflector installed in the boiler above the burner is designed to mix flue gases and air and maintain a high temperature in the combustion environment. It is most often a very flat cast iron, ceramic, or concrete cylinder mounted at a height of 100-150 mm above the upper edge of the burner. Numerous studies have conclusively proven that its presence is essential for flue gas cleanliness and heat exchanger efficiency.
