LCD DISPLAY
During normal boiler operation, the display shows information about the current boiler temperature and the temperature set by the user. When changing boiler operation parameters, pumps, fan, and other functions, this information is displayed on the LCD.
CONTROLLER FUNCTIONS
During normal controller operation, the LCD shows the main page, displaying the following information:
- Boiler temperature
- Set temperature
This screen allows quick adjustment of the set temperature using the plus and minus keys. Pressing the options button takes the user to the first-level menu. The first two lines of the menu are displayed. You can navigate through each menu using the plus and minus buttons. Pressing the options button moves to the next submenu or activates an option. Exit returns to the higher-level menu until the main screen is displayed.
While viewing the main screen, pressing (and holding) the exit key will display the boiler temperature screen with the possibility to change the set temperature. In case of absence or damage to the DHW sensor or selecting the home heating mode, instead of the current temperature, XX.X will be displayed.
MANUAL OPERATION
For user convenience, the controller is equipped with a manual operation module. In this function, each actuator is turned on and off independently of the others.
FEEDING TIME
This option is used to set the fuel feeder operating time. The operating time should be set depending on the fuel used and the type of boiler.
FEEDING PAUSE
The pause time is used to set the feeder's rest period. Selecting appropriate times allows proper boiler operation.
FEEDER
In this function, the user can turn off or on the fuel feeder (e.g., to extinguish the boiler or manually add fuel)
PUMP ACTIVATION TEMPERATURE
This option is used to set the activation temperature of the CO pump and the DHW pump (measured at the boiler). Below the set temperature, both pumps do not operate; above the activation temperature, both pumps are turned on but operate depending on the mode. Both pumps will be turned off if the temperature in the circuit drops by the set hysteresis (separately for CO and DHW) below the activation temperature.
CO HYSTERESIS
This option sets the hysteresis of the set temperature. It is the difference between the temperature entering the maintenance cycle and the temperature returning to the working cycle (e.g., if the set temperature is 60°C and the hysteresis is 3°C, the transition to maintenance cycle occurs at 60°C, and the return to working cycle occurs when the temperature drops to 57°C).
DHW HYSTERESIS
This option sets the hysteresis of the set temperature on the boiler. It is the difference between the DHW set temperature (after reaching the set temperature, the DHW pump does not operate) and the temperature for reactivating the DHW pump (e.g., the set temperature is 55°C and the hysteresis is 5°C. After reaching 55°C, the DHW pump turns off. It turns on again when the temperature drops to 50°C).
BLOWER POWER
This function controls the fan speed. The adjustment range is from 1 to 10 (these can be considered fan speeds). The higher the speed, the faster the fan runs, where speed 1 is the minimum fan speed and speed 10 is the maximum. The fan speed range is changed using the plus and minus buttons. The fan always starts initially at full speed - allowing it to start even if the motor is slightly dusty.
OPERATING MODE
In this function, the user selects one of five boiler operating modes. An asterisk (*) next to a mode indicates the boiler is in that mode. You can choose one of five modes:
- Home heating
Selecting this option puts the controller in home heating mode only. The CO pump starts working above the pump activation threshold (factory set at 40°C). Below this temperature, the pump stops working.
- Boiler priority
In this mode, the boiler pump (DHW) is on until the set temperature is reached; after reaching it, the pump turns off and the CO circulation pump activates. The DHW priority function first heats the domestic hot water and then heats the radiator water.
- Parallel pumps
In this mode, pump operation starts simultaneously above the set temperature (see pump activation temperature function). The CO pump runs continuously until the temperature drops below the activation threshold and set hysteresis, and the DHW pump turns off after reaching the set temperature on the boiler. It will turn on again after the temperature drops below the DHW set temperature and hysteresis.
- Summer mode
After activating this function, the CO pump is turned off and the DHW pump turns on above the pump activation threshold (see pump activation temperature function). After exceeding this temperature, the DHW pump runs continuously until the boiler temperature drops below the pump activation threshold. In summer mode, only the set temperature on the boiler, which heats the water in the boiler, is set (the boiler set temperature is simultaneously the boiler's set temperature). After activating summer mode, the letter L appears on the display.
ROOM THERMOSTAT
A room thermostat can be connected to the ST-37 controller. It then has higher priority than the main controller (this does not apply to heating the DHW boiler). The feeder and blower operate until the temperature set on the room thermostat is reached. After heating the room to the set temperature, the boiler switches to maintenance mode; it returns to working mode when the room temperature drops below the set temperature.
EXTINGUISHING
(This function is available in some software versions). This menu function is used to extinguish the flame in the boiler. After activating this function, the feeder and blower stop working, but the pumps operate until the boiler temperature drops (turning off below the pump activation threshold).
WEEKLY CONTROL
(This function is available in some software versions)
This function is used to program daily temperature changes. The controller can be set in two modes:
- In the first mode, temperature changes are set separately for each day.
- In the second mode, changes are set for weekdays (Monday-Friday) and weekends (Saturday-Sunday)
TEMPERATURE ALARM
The temperature alarm activation time is set using the plus and minus keys. A corresponding message appears on the display and a sound signal is activated.
MAINTENANCE PAUSE
This function is used to set the frequency of fuel feeding during maintenance cycle operation. This setting prevents both further temperature increase and complete extinguishing when the temperature remains above the set temperature. In this function, the user sets the feeder pause time (the operating time is fixed by the boiler manufacturer - 5 seconds). The pause time should be set depending on the fuel and boiler type. During maintenance, the fan is turned on only during fuel feeding at the same speed as in working mode.
LANGUAGE
Using this function, the user selects the language version of the controller menu.
FACTORY SETTINGS
The controller is pre-configured for operation. However, it should be adjusted to individual needs. It is always possible to return to factory settings. Activating the factory settings option erases all custom settings in favor of the manufacturer's settings. From that moment, you can set your own parameters again.
PROTECTIONS
To ensure maximum safe and trouble-free operation, the controller has a number of protections. In case of an alarm, a sound signal is activated and a corresponding message appears on the display.
1) Automatic sensor check
In case of damage or disconnection of the CO, DHW, or feeder temperature sensor, an alarm is activated, additionally signaling the fault on the display. The blower and feeder are then turned off, and both pumps start working to distribute hot (potentially) water through the system.
2) Thermal protection
This is an additional bimetallic mini sensor (located near the boiler temperature sensor) that cuts off power to the fan and feeder if the alarm temperature of 85°C is exceeded. This prevents water boiling in the system.
3) Temperature alarm
This protection activates only in working mode (i.e., when the boiler temperature is lower than the set temperature). If the boiler temperature does not rise within the time set by the user, the alarm is activated: the feeder and blower are turned off (the water pump operates independently), and a sound signal is activated. A corresponding message is displayed.
4) Boiler water boiling protection
This protection prevents high boiler temperature (only in boiler priority function).
5) Temperature protection
The controller has additional protection in case of bimetallic sensor failure: an alarm is activated when the temperature exceeds 85°C.
6) Fuse
The controller has a WT 6.3 A glass tube fuse protecting the electrical installation.
If you are looking for a controller for another boiler, the ST-37 CONTROLLER can successfully cooperate with any other manufacturer's furnace thanks to its software.
